Claude weekly limit: reset schedule, plan capacity, and how it works
Claude paid plans with included usage can have weekly usage limits. On Team plans, those limits apply per member rather than to the organization as a whole. On Pro, Max, and Team plans, weekly limits reset once every seven days at a fixed day and time assigned to the account (or member account). Unlike the 5-hour session limit that resets throughout the day, your weekly allowance caps the total volume you can use across Claude on the web, desktop apps, and Claude Code over the entire week.
The five-hour session limit and weekly limits are separate controls. Reaching one does not necessarily mean you have reached the other. If you hit your weekly limit, Claude pauses new prompts under your included plan usage until your assigned reset time arrives. You can check your remaining plan usage and your account's next weekly reset time in Settings › Usage, or check your plan's usage limits and current rate-limit status with /usage in Claude Code. If you need to keep working immediately, eligible subscribers can continue using Usage Credits at standard API rates without changing when their included weekly limit resets.
When does the Claude weekly limit reset?
On Pro, Max, and Team plans, Anthropic assigns a fixed weekly reset day and time to each account (or member account). Once set, this schedule stays constant every single week. For example, if your account is assigned Wednesdays at 2:30 PM, your full weekly allowance restores every Wednesday at 2:30 PM regardless of when you sent your first prompt or when your billing cycle started.

Weekly capacity by plan: what you actually get
Anthropic does not publish universal fixed weekly token caps or message allowances for any plan. Capacity is dynamically metered based on prompt complexity, conversation context, and model choice. However, plan tiers determine how weekly limits are structured:
Claude Pro ($20/month)
Includes weekly usage across all models, tracked in Settings › Usage under “Opus only” and “all other models”. When the weekly limit is reached, prompts pause until your assigned reset time or you can continue with Usage Credits.
Claude Max 5× and 20× ($100 / $200/month)
Anthropic documents 5× and 20× as five-hour session multipliers relative to Pro. Anthropic separately documents weekly limits for Max, but does not publish corresponding 5× or 20× weekly multipliers or universal fixed weekly token/message allowances.
Claude Team ($25 / $125/seat/month)
Enforces weekly limits per individual member account, not pooled across the organization. Standard and Premium seats each have their own assigned reset time and individual weekly ceiling.
Claude Enterprise
Current usage-based Enterprise accounts do not have an included weekly usage allowance; usage is billed entirely on consumption from the first token. Legacy seat-based Enterprise plans continue with per-seat weekly limits until contract renewal.
Claude Free ($0)
Free accounts have a session-based usage limit that resets every five hours. Anthropic does not publish a weekly allowance for Free accounts and may impose other types of usage limits.
Opus and Fable weekly rules
How your weekly allowance behaves depends on the models you select during the week:
Opus only vs. all other models
In Settings › Usage, Anthropic displays weekly usage and reset information under two separate progress bars: Opus only and all other models. At the same time, Pro, Max, and Team plan documentation states that the weekly usage limit applies across all models. Do not infer additional independent weekly capacity or undocumented quota mechanics from those labels. Claude Fable 5 and 5.1 weekly quota rules
Fable models follow strict plan-dependent rules governing weekly usage:
- Max plans, Team Premium seats, and legacy Enterprise Premium seats: Fable 5 and 5.1 can use up to 50% of the plan's existing weekly limit as part of included plan usage. This does not create 50% extra weekly capacity; it restricts how much of your regular weekly limit can be consumed by Fable models. Once that 50% ceiling is reached, you can switch back to standard models or continue using Fable with Usage Credits.
- Pro, Team Standard, and legacy Enterprise Standard seats: Fable models are not included in plan weekly limits and require Usage Credits.
- Usage-based Enterprise: Billed directly on standard API consumption rates.
Note: The earlier promotional trial for Fable 5 ended July 19, 2026. Fable 5.1 was never part of that promotion.
Does Claude Code share your weekly limit?
Yes. Claude Code authenticated with your Claude subscription (Pro, Max, or Team) counts toward the same plan usage limits as Claude on the web and desktop.

Because the 5-hour session limit resets every five hours, you can use Claude actively every day without ever hitting a session pause—only to find your weekly limit reached toward the end of the week.
Usage is affected by conversation length and complexity, file attachment size, features and tools used, model choice, and effort level.

What happens when you reach the weekly limit?
When your weekly limit is exhausted, Claude pauses prompts under your included plan usage until your account's scheduled reset day and time arrive.
Option 1: Wait for your scheduled reset
When your account's assigned reset time arrives, your weekly allowance restores automatically. You do not need to restart your browser, log out, or clear caches.
Option 2: Continue immediately with Usage Credits
Eligible users can continue beyond included limits with Usage Credits. Pro and Max individuals can enable them in Settings › Usage. On Team and legacy seat-based Enterprise plans, an Owner or Primary Owner enables Usage Credits through Organization settings.
Using Usage Credits does not change your normal weekly reset schedule. Your regular plan allowance continues to reset on its assigned day and time.
